A Body in the Snow is a Discovery Channel docuseries about Karen Read, accused and convicted of killing her boyfriend,
a Boston police officer. Each episode reveals new details that challenge the viewer’s perception of the truth.
I was tasked with creating the show’s opening design to reflect this uncertainty. With a one-day turnaround, I pitched seven concepts; one of which was selected the next day over competing ideas. The final concept(A) uses fragmented, shifting imagery to create a puzzle-like experience, echoing the story’s evolving narrative.

Concept 02
This was presented as a second conceptual design option. In this concept, the mood letter forms abstracted, much like a prosecutor brings forth evidence within the case. Each letter and embedded footage a piece of the whole.
Execution
The animation starts with abstracted mood letters filled with footage obscuring your view. As they pull back, the viewer begins to make out more details of footage of the case, as well as, the words related to the case. Finally, the animation pulls back on footage of a car in snow to reveal the Main Title.
